Canucks Recall Patrick Wiercioch and Thatcher Demko

Utica, NY - Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Patrick Wiercioch and goaltender Thatcher Demko from the Utica Comets.

Wiercioch, 27, has registered a goal in two games with the Comets this season. In 2016-17, he appeared in 57 games for Colorado, registering 12 points (4-8-12). His four goals ranked third among Avalanche defensemen while his 12 points ranked fifth. Prior to joining Colorado in 2016, the 6-5, 202-pound defenseman spent five seasons with the Ottawa Senators. In 268 career NHL games over parts of six seasons, Wiercioch has registered 74 points (16-58-74).

Demko, 21, has appeared in four games for the Comets this season, posting a record of 3-1-0. His 1.26 GAA ranks fifth in the AHL to date. He made his professional debut last season, posting a record of 22-17-4, .907 save percentage and 2.68 GAA with the Comets, which also included a six-game winning streak in the month of March.
