Brampton Beast News Release

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - Brandon MacLean scored a pair of goals and Stefan Fournier and Kevin Dufour each recorded their first goals of the season but the Kalamazoo Wings scored a quick pair in the third to take a 5-4 win over the Brampton Beast on Sunday afternoon at the Powerade Centre.

The Beast opened the scoring for the second straight game against Kalamazoo, this time with a power play goal from Stefan Fournier. The shot rang towards the net and the rebound was kicked out into the slot by Kalamazoo goaltender Michael Garteig. Fournier pounced and was able to shovel it into the back of the net from his knees to give the Beast a 1-0 lead at 1:46 of the first.

With the Beast short-handed, Kalamazoo responded with a goal from Justin Taylor at 10:03.

Taylor wasn't finished and added another goal about five minutes later that gave the Wings a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Beast came out flying to start the second period and were rewarded with the game-tying goal off of the stick of Brandon MacLean.

MacLean curled out of the corner and fired a snap shot towards the net that snuck past a confused Garteig at 3:01 of the second.

Thomas Ebbing got his stick tangled in the legs of a Wings player and was sent to the box. It turned out well for the Beast as Ebbing was sprung from the sin bin and sent the puck to MacLean who crashed the net and roofed his second of the game at 7:55.

Brampton and Kalamazoo headed to the second intermission all tied up 3-3.

The third period began with Kalamazoo striking for a quick pair of goals. Tyler Biggs got the first at 1:51 and was followed shortly after by teammate Josh Pitt who converted at 2:01.

Brampton continued to fight and Kevin Dufour was able to score his first of the year on the power play.

Willie Corrin started the play with a beautiful stretch pass that rebounded off the sideboards. The puck was thrown in front and Dufour scooped it up and potted his first of the year at 11:37.

Marcus Hogberg got the start and recorded 35 saves.

NOTES: Molson Three Stars 3) Irving (KAL) 2) Moynihan (KAL) 1) MacLean (BRA) Brampton finished 2-for-8 on the power play while Kalamazoo was 3-for-7 with the man advantage. The Beast will now take on the Wheeling Nailers this coming Friday, October 27th at 7:15 pm at the Powerade Centre.
