U.S. WNT Kicks off Two-Game Set vs. Korea Republic in New Orleans

U.S. WNT HITS SOUTHEAST FOR TWO MATCHES AGAINST KOREA REPUBLIC:

The U.S. Women's National Team has played 12 matches this year so far and will play four more during the fall as the 2017 schedule nears completion with two matches in October against the Korea Republic and two in November against Canada. The USA returns to New Orleans for the first time since the end of 2015 and Abby Wambach's final game to meet South Korea on Oct. 19 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (7 p.m. CT on FS1) before traveling to Cary, North Carolina for the second leg on Oct. 22 at Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park (2 p.m. ET on ESPN). The USA is coming off two wins in September against New Zealand by a combined 8-1 score as five different players found the net: three goals from Alex Morgan, two from Julie Ertz and one each from Lindsey Horan, Mallory Pugh and Lynn Williams. The 16 games the USA will play this year will tie for the second-most the U.S. WNT has played in a calendar year after the World Cup-Olympic cycle. The only year in which the USA played more (18) was in 1997 during what was part of the lead-up to the 1999 Women's World Cup hosted in the USA.
