Kansas City Monarchs News Release

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones dropped the series with Sioux City and their third straight game, 4-2, on Saturday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The Explorers looked to take control of game three immediately with a sacrifice fly to center field by right fielder, Michael Lang. Center fielder, Tony Campana, scored off of the play after stealing second and advancing to third off of an error from catcher, Tony Caldwell. Sioux City lead Kansas City 1-0 going into the bottom of the first inning.

First baseman, John Nogowski, continued to be the glue for the Explorers team throughout this series. The American Association's batting leader doubled to score two runs in the top of the third extending their lead to 3-0. Nogowski scored to end the inning off of designated hitter, LeVon Washington's RBI single stretching the Explorers' lead to four runs.

The T-Bones stayed scoreless through the first five innings, until left fielder, Joe Jackson, nailed a sacrifice fly to left field bringing in second baseman, Patrick Brady, for their first run of the game. Kansas City trailed the Explorers 4-1 going into the seventh inning.

Despite a slow start, Kansas City continued chipping away at the Explorers' 4-1 lead. Center fielder, Marcus Lemon's RBI single to center field scored catcher, Tony Caldwell, to narrow the deficit to two going into the top of the eighth inning.

The T-Bones weren't able to come back from the Explorers' early lead, losing the series 4-2.

Right-handed pitcher, Kurt Heyer, picked up the win for the Explorers, while right-handed pitcher, Chris Perry, took the loss for the T-Bones.

The T-Bones will play the final game of their four game series with the Sioux City Explorers Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. Kids can come enjoy Frank White's on-field pre-game baseball clinic and run the bases post-game.
