LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws used an eight-run third inning, aided by five Delmarva errors, to blow open their Friday night game en route to an 8-0 win over the Shorebirds at FirstEnergy Park.

The BlueClaws (28-20) have now won six of their last seven to get back to a season-high eight games over .500. Delmarva (18-28) took the completion of a suspended game 4-3 earlier in the day.

The BlueClaws scored eight unearned runs on five Delmarva errors in the bottom of the third inning. Brett Barbier and Luke Williams each had two run doubles and Darick Hall added an RBI single. Williams scored two of the eight Lakewood runs in the inning.

The five errors by Delmarva were one off the franchise record for most errors in a game by a BlueClaws opponent. Three times, most recently Greenville in 2009, a BlueClaws foe made six errors in a game.

Daniel Brito and Cord Sandberg each had two hits in the game for the BlueClaws.

BlueClaws starter Bailey Falter (2-2) gave up three hits over six scoreless innings to earn the win. Jonathan Hennigan (two scoreless) and Trevor Bettencourt (one) combined to finish off the BlueClaws league-leading eighth shutout of the season.

Bettencourt, who struck out the side, now has 26 strikeouts and one walk in 16 innings of work this year, having allowed one earned run.

The teams continue their series on Saturday at 4:05 pm. RHP Felix Paulino (1-3, 6.18) starts for Lakewood opposite RHP Lucas Humpal (1-4).
