Doubledays Announce Thursday Community Outreach Campaign

May 26, 2017 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Auburn Doubledays News Release

The Auburn Doubledays are honored to announce their community outreach initiatives throughout the 2017 season. The Doubledays hope these initiatives will foster a better community in both Auburn and the surrounding areas.

Thursday nights at Falcon Park are "Hunger and Homelessness Awareness" night. Fans are encouraged to bring nonperishable foods to the Falcon Park box office for a dollar off their ticket. Foods such as pasta, boxed macaroni and cheese, rice, and granola bars are much appreciated, and will be donated to local food pantries.

Patrons are encouraged to donate twin blankets and sheets that will benefit Chapel House of Cayuga County. "We are very grateful to the Auburn Doubledays for helping community organizations, such as ourselves, to provide for the individuals we serve" said Chapel House executive director Christina Thornton. "Something as small as a blanket or sheets can really make an impact with individuals who are trying to get back on their feet."

The Auburn Rescue Mission will also benefit from a diaper and wipe drive on Thursday evenings that will go to support families in need of help with their young children. "We have not had the opportunity to work with the Auburn Doubledays before, and we are honored to be a part of their community outreach campaign" said Cyndi Sharp, director of outreach with the Auburn Rescue Mission. "I know that the front office of the Doubledays wants to bring the community together and this is a huge step in that direction."

"Our organization is honored to host 'Hunger and Homelessness Awareness' nights every Thursday night home game throughout the season," said Adam Winslow, General Manager of the Auburn Doubledays. "The opportunity to help those that are less fortunate in our community, even in a small way, is something we feel we are obligated to do. In our eyes, these small things are important, and the right thing to do, to build community and help those in need."

Auburn Doubledays single game and season tickets for the 2017 season are on sale now and can be purchased either in person at the Doubledays office located at Falcon Park at 130 N Division Street in Auburn or by calling 315-255-2489
