Albuquerque, N.M. - For Duke City, the post season picture is becoming more of a possibility as every week passes. Despite the record, the Gladiators (5-5) kept hopes alive with their huge victory upset against the Texas Revolution last Friday night by a score of 35-28.

Last Friday night's victory against the Revolution was just what the doctor ordered. The Gladiator momentum was reignited between players and fans alike.

The Gladiators made great plays both on offense and defense including a huge "over the wall" 17 yard touchdown grab by WR Andre London which drew "first blood" early in the first quarter.

Wide Receivers Dexter Manley and Sedrick Johnson also had 2 touchdown grabs a piece where one of Johnson's was made on the final drive in the game to put the Gladiators ahead. OL Sherman Carter also converted the 2 point conversion to make the score 35-28.

It was a great testament to the Duke City defense as they held Texas to just 28 points especially when the Revolution were scoring an average of 60 points or more against previous opponents this season.

The Gladiator offense was recognized by the league as QB Donovan Porterie was awarded "Offensive Player of the Week" for week 13 in the Champions Indoor Football League. He threw 23-39, 218 passing yards, and 5 touchdown passes against the Revolution. This is the second time this season that Porterie was awarded the weekly league honor.

A few things have to happen before Duke City solidifies their spot in the post season such as certain teams in the division winning and losing. These events include the Gladiators winning the final two home games, the result of the Dodge City (8-2) vs. Texas (7-3) game as well as what the Dallas Marshals (6-4) results are at the end of the regular season.

Duke City returns home to Tingley Coliseum (300 San Pedro Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108) this Saturday May 27th with a 6:05 pm MT kick off against the Amarillo Venom for the fourth time this season . Doors will open at 4:30 PM and the first 2,500 fans will receive "thundersticks" presented by i9 Sports of Albuquerque on "Youth Sports Night." Fans in New Mexico can watch on all TV platforms (Over The Air, Cable, Satellite) on My 50-TV and follow along on social media with hashtag #DCGvsAMA.
