Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars have announced that they will hold a Craig Sager Tribute Night on Thursday, June 29 to honor the life and legacy of the late TNT sideline reporter on what would have been his 66th birthday. First pitch against the Clinton LumberKings is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Northwestern Medicine Field. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at kccougars.com or by calling the Cougars box office at 630-232-8811.

A native of nearby Batavia, Ill. Sager grew up a sports fan and made it his life's work. Known for his colorful and unique outfits worn on-air, he became one of the most beloved sideline reporters in the sports world. Sager passed away in December of last year following his battle with acute myeloid leukemia. He recently received a posthumous Sports Emmy award for Outstanding Sports Personality - Sports Reporter and will be honored in September of this year with the Basketball Hall of Fame's Curt Gowdy Media Award.

The first 1,500 fans in attendance that night will receive a Craig Sager bobblehead, which is decked out in his signature bright colors. In addition, Cougars staff will wear t-shirts resembling the suit Sager wore while accepting the Jimmy V award at the ESPYs in July of 2016. SagerStrong Foundation t-shirts can be purchased here with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the SagerStrong Foundation. Started by Craig and his wife Stacy, the SagerStrong Foundation works to fund clinical trials and cancer research for leukemia and other blood cancers.

The Cougars organization will also donate a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales for that night's game to the SagerStrong Foundation. For more information about the SagerStrong Foundation, visit sagerstrongfoundation.org.

Thirsty Thursday deals, presented by Miller Lite, will be available throughout the game with $1 beers, hot dogs and sodas. Following the game, fans will be treated to a post-game fireworks show set to an 80's playlist, courtesy of Miller Lite. Fans of all ages are also invited to run the bases after the fireworks show.
