Rogers Named Cal League Player of the Week

The California League announced Monday that Lancaster JetHawks outfielder Wes Rogers has been named the California League Player of the Week for the week of May 15-21.

This is the third-consecutive week a JetHawk has been named the league's Player of the Week. Outfielder Sam Hilliard (May 1-7) and infielder Brendan Rodgers (May 8-14) earned the honor the last two weeks. Right-hander Jesus Tinoco was the Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 8-14.

The three-consecutive weekly awards are the franchise's most since 2007 when Brad Correll (Aug. 6-12), Mark Wagner (Aug. 13-19), Zachary Daeges (Aug. 20-26) and Steve Garrabrants (Aug. 27-Sept. 3) won four-consecutive Player of the Week awards.

Rogers hit .583 (14-for-24) with a 1.565 OPS in seven games on the week. He hit one home run and totaled six doubles, six RBI and eight runs scored. The South Carolina native added five stolen bases.

The Rockies fourth round pick in 2014, Rogers is hitting .295/.371/.489 through 38 games this season. He leads the California League with 22 stolen bases and ranks second in the league with 14 doubles. He's hitting .348 with a 1.035 OPS in May after batting .247 with a .701 OPS in April.
