May 22, 2017 - American Association (AA) News Release

Rockland Boulders INF Dylan Tice has been named this week's Player of the Week for the week ending May 21.

Tice has started his 2017 campaign hitting a blistering .524 (11-for-21) over the course of a five-game series sweep against the Sussex County Miners. He notched three doubles, a home run, and six RBI in the set.

In Thursday's 10-3 season opening win at home, Tice went 1-for-4. A day later, the series shifted to Sussex County for the Miners' home opener. Tice helped to spoil the party with a 3-for-6 night in which he drove in two runs and scored two more. The Boulders took a 6-3 win in 11 innings. Back at Rockland on Saturday night, the Boulders grabbed two more wins in a doubleheader sweep. In the opener, Tice went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI, part of a 12-3 romp. He quickly followed up that performance with a 3-for-3 game that included a double, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in an 8-2 nightcap victory. Tice capped off his week on Sunday with his third three-hit game of the series. He was 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored as Rockland edged Sussex County 5-4 at home.

The Perkasie, Pa. resident is in his first year with Rockland following a two-season stint in the St. Louis Cardinals system. Tice played exclusively with the Gulf Coast League Cardinals in 2015, hitting .280 (42-for-150) with three doubles, a triple, four home runs and 22 RBI. In the 2016 season, he split time between the Short Season Class A State College (Pa.) Spikes of the New York-Penn League, the Class A Peoria (Ill.) Chiefs of the Midwest League, and the Class A Advanced Palm Beach (Fla.) Cardinals of the Florida State League. In all, Tice hit .296 (77-for-260) with six doubles, a home run, and 18 RBI. Prior to his professional career, Tice played at Pennsylvania's West Chester University, from which he was selected in the 36th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft.

The 5-0 Boulders enjoy an off day Monday before opening a road series at the Trois-Rivieres Aigles on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Every Boulders game can be viewed live and for free at www.canamleague.tv.
