Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
Rome, GA- The West Virginia Power knocked off the Rome Braves 8-2 Sunday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium. The Power posted two three-run innings to split the four-game set with the first-place team from the South Atlantic League's Southern Division.
West Virginia had starter Luis Escobar on the mound for the series finale. The right-hander entered play tied for the Minor League lead with 41 strikeouts, including 12 against Rome during his South Atlantic League debut on April 9.
The Power opened the scoring with three runs in the top of the third. Sandy Santos singled, stole second and scored on a double by Ty Moore. After Carlos Munoz walked, Hunter Owen tripled in a pair for the 3-0 West Virginia advantage.
In the bottom of the third, Lucas Herbert hit a 2-1 pitch from Escobar over the left field wall to cut into the Power lead.
