April 30, 2017 - Eastern League (EL1)
Erie SeaWolves News Release

The SeaWolves dropped the series finale to the Trenton Thunder on Sunday at ARM & HAMMER Park, 4-0.

Trenton broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth against SeaWolves starter Myles Jaye . Jake Cave led off with a double and scored on a one-out Mike Ford single for a 1-0 lead.

In the last of the fifth, Zack Zehner led off with a single and moved into scoring position on a Francisco Diaz one-out base hit. Thairo Estrada singled home Zehner giving Trenton a 2-0 lead.

The Thunder completed the scoring in the bottom of the sixth. Gleyber Torres led off with a single and moved into scoring position on a Miguel Andujar base hit. Ford followed with an RBI single, scoring Torres for a 3-0 Trenton lead. Billy McKinney then made it 4-0 with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Andujar .

The SeaWolves offense could never get going on Sunday. They had runners at first and second with less than two outs in three times and stranded 11 runners on base in the game. Erie finished the series going 4-for-38 with runners in scoring position.

Herrera (1-0) earned the win in his first start of the season. He tossed 5.1 shutout frames, allowing three hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

Jaye (0-2) took the loss for the SeaWolves. He allowed four runs on nine hits with a walk and three strikeouts in five-plus innings. Jaye was once again the victim of a lack of run support. The SeaWolves have scored just one run in Jaye's last two starts.

The SeaWolves continue their road trip on Monday night against the Bowie Baysox at Price George's Stadium at 6:35 p.m. Lefty Tyler Alexander (1-2, 4.58 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against LHP Tanner Scott (0-0, 2.25 ERA).
