Colorado Springs, CO (April 17, 2017) - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC fell 2-3 to Seattle Sounders FC 2 after going down a man in the 18th minute.

A winter storm blew through Colorado Springs Friday night and into Saturday morning. Nonetheless, the Switchbacks kicked off against Sounders FC 2 hoping to build on their 2-2 draw in Reno. The Switchbacks struggled early and then fell to a disadvantage as Pascal Eboussi was shown a straight red card in the 18th minute. Sounders FC 2 would get their first goal just three minutes later as Parra scored from the penalty spot after a handball call went against Switchbacks FC. The Switchbacks would continue to fight and found an equalizer in the 40th minute. Aaron King tapped the ball to Richie Perez, who the Switchbacks acquired on loan from the Rapids earlier in the day, who's shot took a deflection into the top right corner. The Switchbacks would take a 1-1 draw into the half.

Seattle came out of halftime strong scoring twice in quick succession. Chenkam would score twice for Sounders FC 2 in the 51st and 54th minute. The Switchbacks would then work to bounce back from the 2 goal deficit with a fighting attitude as the rest of the second half progressed. As the second half progressed, things began to get more physical as well, a total of 26 fouls were called in the match (3 from each side). Coming on as a sub, Kevaughn Frater would lay off a pass to Jordan Burt who fired a rocket into the net to cut the Seattle lead to 2-3. The Switchbacks would continue to fight until the end of the match including the almost seven minutes of stoppage time. Despite their best efforts, the Switchbacks would fall 3-2 at home.

"It was a hard-fought game," said Assistant Coach Wolde Harris. "Going down a man early in the match made things really tough. Credit to the guys for fighting hard throughout the match and we've got to pick ourselves up and get ready for the next game."

"We're disappointed in the result," said defender Jordan Burt. "It was tough fighting down a man, but we showed a good fight. We're still really disappointed in the result and we need to improve next week."

The Switchbacks will return to Weidner Field on Friday, May 5th at 7:00 PM for a rematch against Tulsa Roughnecks FC. The first 500 fans in attendance will receive a Switchbacks FC cap courtesy of Pikes Peak Brewing. Tickets are available here.
