RubberDucks Game Recap
Baysox 8 RubberDucks 5
WP: Lucas Long (3-1) LP: D.J. Brown (0-1) Save: none
Summary
Bowie's D.J. Stewart smacked a three-run triple during a seven-run, second-inning rally Saturday night, leading the Baysox to an 8-5 victory over the Akron RubberDucks at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie, Maryland.
Turning Point
The Baysox (11-10) rallied from a 2-1 deficit by sending 12 batters to the plate and scoring seven times against Akron starter D.J. Brown (0-1) in the second inning to build an 8-2 lead. Stewart's triple with the bases loaded and a two-run single by Garabez Rosa were the key blows. Brown did not make it out of the inning, but was charged with all the runs.
Winging It
After Brown was lifted, lefty Matt Whitehouse provided 3.1 innings of shutout relief for the RubberDucks (9-12). Right-hander Dylan Baker made his Double-A debut with a scoreless inning, and fellow righty Robbie Aviles finished with two perfect innings. Bowie's Lucas Long (3-1) earned the win with four shutout innings of relief.
Duck Tales
Greg Allen was a dynamo for Akron. He led off the game with his first homer of the season, and later added a two-run single in the fourth inning. He capped off his night at the plate with a sacrifice fly in the ninth to finish with four RBI. In the field, he made three outstanding catches, including a leaping grab at the top of the center-field fence to rob Bowie's Aderlin Rodriguez of extra bases in the first inning. Todd Hankins was 2-3, with an RBI and a stolen base, and extended his hit streak to four games.
Notebook
Stewart also hit a leadoff homer and finished with four RBI for the Baysox...Baker's relief outing was his first action since April of 2015. He sat out all of last season, but is a member of Cleveland's 40-man roster...Time of Game: 2:32 ...Attendance: 4,012.
On Deck
The RubberDucks and Baysox will conclude the weekend series on Sunday afternoon at 2:05. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM, the WARF iHeart channel, and the TuneIn Radio App.
