Revolution Announce 'Hunger Free Mondays'

April 28, 2017 - Atlantic League (AtL)
York Revolution News Release

York, Pa.- The York County Food Bank estimates that approximately 50,000 York County residents, including 17,000 children, do not have a consistent supply of and access to nutritious food. Beginning this Monday, May 1, United Fiber & Data (UFD), YRK Creative, and the Revolution are stepping up to the plate to help.

The Revolution have named the Mondays of their 2017 season Hunger Free Mondays and invite fans and members of the York County community to donate a non-perishable food item to the Food Bank to receive a free ticket to a Monday game.

In addition, for each pound of food collected at PeoplesBank Park, United Fiber & Data will donate 50 cents to the York County Food Bank.

The initiative features logos and other materials designed by the staff of YRK Creative, publishers of YRK Magazine. YRK Creative also developed moving profiles of Food Bank beneficiaries that will be featured in several editions of the Revolution's playbill given to fans at each game.

"We are incredibly grateful for this partnership," said Jennifer Brillhart, Executive Director of the York County Food Bank. "Nobody should have to worry where their next meal is coming from, and it's thanks to the dedication of partners like the York Revolution, United Fiber & Data, YRK Creative, and all the Revs fans that we can continue our work to break the cycle of hunger."

Revolution President Eric Menzer said his organization was thrilled to team up with not only the Food Bank and the initiative's other partners but also with Revolution fans.

"Revs fans support their team, and they support their community," Menzer said. "We truly believe there is no greater feeling than doing something that can have a large impact on neighbors in need. And thanks to UFD's support, we can top that great feeling with a free ticket to a game, which we know fans love as well, so it truly is a win for everyone involved - no matter what the score is in that night's game."

"We're honored to partner with the York Revolution to support the York County Food Bank and its efforts to fight hunger in York County," said Heather Gryp, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for United Fiber & Data. "At UFD, we focus on making connections possible through the business of data communication. We hope that Hunger Free Mondays will likewise foster connections and provide a way for people to help those in need in York County."

Donations can be dropped off at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and on game days. Fans making a donation will receive tickets to one of the Revolution's five Monday home games.
