With 6-0 Shutout, Nuts Win Second Straight

Modesto, CA. - Gianfranco Wawoe drove in three runs to back the Modesto Nuts' 6-0 shutout of the Inland Empire 66ers on Thursday night at John Thurman Field.
Nick Neidert (W, 2-0) started the Nuts' (13-8) shutout allowing just two hits. The righty struck out five and recorded his second shutout of the season. Spencer Herrmann added two scoreless frames out of the bullpen. Matt Walker (S, 2/3) tossed two scoreless innings to finish things off for the Nuts' third shutout of the season.
Jamie Barria (L, 1-2) threw mostly well in his start for the 66ers (8-13). The Nuts got him for two runs in the first on Logan Taylor 's RBI single and Chris Mariscal 's RBI knock.
The game stayed tight at 2-0 until the seventh. Wawoe smacked a RBI single to add to the lead. In the eighth, Wawoe ripped a two-run triple off the left-field wall. Donnie Walton launched his second home run of the year to add on in the eighth as well.
