ABOUT LAST GAME: The Fireflies lost the second game of its series to Asheville, 2-0, in 11 innings on Tuesday afternoon. It was Columbia's first extra-inning game of the year. Gabriel Llanes hurled six shut-out innings, but the tilt remained scoreless until the 11th. In his last two starts, Llanes has allowed just one run over 13 innings and hasn't walked a single batter
WHAT'S AT STAKE: Columbia wins the three-game series over Asheville with a victory on Wednesday. It would be the Fireflies' third series win this year (out of six).
BEAST: Columbia's starter on Wednesday, Merandy Gonzalez, is the only pitcher in the South Atlantic League who has not allowed a run (minimum 15 IP).

NUGGET O' THE DAY: Columbia plays its second straight morning baseball game. For approximately 30 minutes Tuesday morning, the Fireflies were playing in the only professional baseball game in America. Today, there are 25 scheduled morning or afternoon MiLB and MLB games (start times range from 10:00 a.m. to 2:10 p.m.)
AROUND MiLB: Augusta starter Domenic Mazza tossed the South Atlantic League's first nine-inning perfect game on Tuesday night in Lexington. Columbia faced the right-hander on Opening Night and tagged him for seven runs in less than three innings. Tim Tebow and Michael Paez smacked their first homers of the season against Mazza that evening.
