Modesto, CA. - Ricky Eusebio 's two-run homer provided the only offense for the Modesto Nuts in a 7-2 loss to the Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino at John Thurman Field on Tuesday night.
Reggie McClain (L, 3-1) ran into a few speed bumps early surrendering a pair of RBI doubles in the second. Jordan Serena added a RBI single with two outs in the third inning. That was all McClain would surrender on his way to his third quality start of the season. McClain retired the final seven he faced and did not allow another hit after the third inning. McClain went six innings surrendering six hits with two walk and four strikeouts for the Nuts (11-8).
Luis Pena (W, 1-2) allowed just the two-run homer to Eusebio over five innings of work. Pena allowed just two hits but four walks while striking out three for the 66ers (8-11).
The game unraveled in the top of the ninth when the 66ers struck for four runs against Nuts' reliever Art Warren who surrendered all four of those runs on three hits and four walks.
Jeremy Rhoades (S, 2/2) tossed the final two innings for the 66ers and worked around just one hit with four strikeouts.
