Reno Aces Zack Godley Named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week

April 24, 2017 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Reno Aces News Release

RENO, Nev. - Reno Aces' right-handed pitcher, Zack Godley, has been awarded the Pacific Coast League "Pitcher of the Week" award for the period of April 17 - April 23, the League announced today.

Godley, a former 10th-round draft pick by the Chicago Cubs out of the University of Tennessee, had one of the most impressive Triple-A mound-outings in 2017 thus far.

On April 19 at Albuquerque, the South Carolina native no-hit the Isotopes through six innings. He collected a total of seven strikeouts (six consecutive) in seven shutout innings with no walks allowed and only threw 61 pitches in his 21 batters faced. The no-hitter was eventually broken up by Isotopes' leadoff batter Raimel Tapia to start the bottom of the seventh, which was Godley's only hit allowed.

He currently is third on the Aces staff in strikeouts (15) behind Anthony Banda (20) and Braden Shipley (17), and boasts the fourth-best opposing batting average (.193) in the Pacific Coast League.

Acquired by Arizona in a trade in 2014, Godley was awarded "Pitcher of the Week" for the first time in his career while with Advanced-A Visalia in 2015. He went 2-0 in the week of April 20-26 after tossing 13 scoreless innings in the California League in the one week. At the time, he held a 4-0 record and a 1.13 ERA, and was the only pitcher in the Minor Leagues with four wins.

Godley is the first Aces Pitcher of the Week award winner since right-handed pitcher Archie Bradley in 2016 during the week of May 16-22.

The Aces look to continue their winning ways tonight, April 24 at 5:35 p.m. at Southwest University Park against the El Paso Chihuahuas.
