Josef Martinez to Miss Approximately 4-6 Weeks
March 28, 2017 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Atlanta United FC News Release
Atlanta United today announced that forward Josef Martinez is likely to miss approximately 4-6 weeks with a left quad injury. Martinez suffered the injury last week during a call-up with the Venezuelan National Team for 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification.
Martinez currently leads MLS with five goals, including the league's only hat-trick of the season that he picked up during Atlanta's 6-1 rout over Minnesota United in Week 2. He was subsequently voted MLS Player of the Week. The following week, Martinez scored two more goals to help Atlanta defeat Chicago Fire 4-0. Through seven matches during the regular season and preseason, Martinez has scored nine goals and found the back of net in all but one match.
