Lincoln, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars needed only one goal to down the Madison Capitols, 1-0, on Saturday in the Ice Box.
Josef Korenar's 18-save shutout helped push the Stars to 30-20-5.
The Stars had the majority of the scoring chances through the first two periods, outshooting the Capitols, 21-12, after 40 minutes. Madison had a chance on the power play in both periods, but was unable to convert.
Gustaf Westlund broke the deadlock at 2:53 of the third period, scoring a rebound from Christian Evers' shot to make it 1-0. Westlund's goal marked his seventh of the season and Evers' assist gave him three points in his last two games.
The Stars went 0/1 on the power play and 2/2 on the penalty kill.
