Providence Bruins News Release

Albany, NY - The Providence Bruins defeated the Albany Devils Saturday night in their final game in Albany before the team relocates. The P-Bruins got goals from Colton Hargrove, Alex Grant, Austin Czarnik, Peter Cehlarik and Danton Heinen while Dan Vladar earned the start in goal for the first time since being called up from Atlanta.

Providence jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 10:58 thanks to Hargrove. Wayne Simpson took the puck near the blue line and put a wrist shot on Ken Appleby. The puck kicked out to Hargrove at the right hash and his slap shot found the back of the net for his eighth goal of the season. The P-Bruins controlled play for most of the period and held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

The second period was dominated by the Bruins, who scored four goals including two on the power play. The first goal came 57 seconds into the period on a nice transition play. Hargrove had the puck in the corner and sent it cross ice to Grant alone skating towards the net. His blast found the open net for his 14th goal of the season and the Bruins went up 2-0. Five minutes later while on the power play, Czarnik, Cehlarik and Jake DeBrusk played tic-tac-toe for a beautiful tally by Czarnik to make things 3-0 Providence.

That remained the score until five minutes remained, when Cehlarik took his own shot which was blocked and snuck it in for his team leading 19th goal of the season. At 17:22, Simpson's shot rebounded right to Heinen, who buried his 13th goal of the season to send the Bruins into the intermission up 5-0. Vladar did the rest in net in the final period, earning his first career AHL shutout and leading Providence to the 5-0 victory.

Vladar stopped all 34 shots he faced while Appleby stopped 24 of 29. Providence was 2-5 on the power play and 2-2 on the penalty kill. The P-Bruins conclude their three-game road trip tomorrow as they head back to Hartford for a 5pm faceoff with the Wolf Pack.
