PLAYOFF PICTURE

The Monarchs (77 pts.) begin their final eight games of the season third in the North Division, trailing the Brampton Beast (79 pts.) and Adirondack Thunder (78 pts.) for tops in the division. The Monarchs hold a one point lead on the Reading Royals for the final playoff spot in the North. The Monarchs now have a Magic Number of five on the Wheeling Nailers to clinch a playoff spot, meaning any combination of Monarchs wins and Nailers losses that add to five will send the Monarchs to post-season play.

READING IT OVER AGAIN

Monarchs goaltender, Jack Flinn, is coming off the best performance of his professional career after taking a 5-1 win in Reading on Wednesday night. In his third victory of the season, Flinn posted 35 saves and a 0.972 save percentage in a game that saw the Monarchs jump the Royals in the North Division playoff race. On the season, Flinn has found much of his success against the Royals, posting a 2-0-1 record, a 1.65 goals against average and a 0.959 save percentage, but has gone 1-2-0 in his five other appearances (three starts), with a 5.12 goals against average and a 0.840 save percentage.

ON A "ROLL"

The Jackals have been at the bottom of the ECHL standings for the majority of the season, but have turned it on of late, posting a 5-5-0 record in their last 10 games, equaling the best current 10-game stretch of any North Division team. The five wins account for 33 percent of Elmira's total wins on the season.

MILLER TIME

Former Monarchs forward, Kenton Miller, has been on a tear recently, and was just named the ECHL's Player of the Week for March 13-19. In three games, Miller scored five goals along with three assists, including a five-point effort Sunday in a 6-5 victory over Wheeling. The eight-point outburst accounts for 19.5 percent of Miller's season-long point production. Miller leads the Jackals in points against the Monarchs this season with six points on five goals and one assist.

FRONT RUNNING

Despite the Jackals taking the lead into the third period a league-low 13 times this season, Elmira has earned points in 92.3 percent of those games, going 9-1-3-0, including 6-1-1-0 at home. The Monarchs have been even more dominant when leading after the second stanza, and head into First Arena as one of seven teams in the ECHL without a regulation loss, posting a 29-0-3-2 record.
