Royals' Tyler Soy Named WHL Player of the Week

Victoria, BC- The Western Hockey League today announced that Victoria Royals' forward Tyler Soy has been named the WHL Player of the Week.
Over the course of the week, Soy tallied nine points (2g-7a) in four games. The native of Cloverdale, BC also registered four assists on Thursday against the Edmonton Oil Kings, and three helpers the next night versus the Calgary Hitmen. Soy currently sits third in team scoring this season with 43 points (20g-23a) in only 34 games.
The 6-0, 171 lb forward, who won the award for the first time last season, becomes the first Royal to be named WHL Player of the Week on multiple occasions. Soy is also the sixth Victoria player to have won the award as he joins Alex Forsberg (2015-16), Brandon Magee (2014-15), Travis Brown (2014-15), Joe Hicketts (2014-15) and Alex Gogolev (2012-2013).
Soy is in his fourth season with the club and in 247 career regular season games, he has amassed 110 goals and 113 assists for 223 points.
The Royals will wrap up their five-game road trip in Vancouver on January 27th with a battle against the Giants. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
Victoria returns to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for back-to-back games against the Giants on Saturday, January 28th and Sunday, January 29th.
