Cottonmouths Will Continue to Host 2 Games

COLUMBUS, GA - The Columbus Cottonmouths Hockey Team of the SPHL returned home from a chilling road trip to Peoria, IL on Sunday, January 22. The Cottonmouths' bus carrying 20 players and 4 staff and personnel slid off an interchange ramp between I-74 and I-55, about 20 miles from Peoria, IL on Thursday, January 19, 2017. Everyone on the bus was transported to a local hospital where they were evaluated and treated for their injuries. The game schedule for Friday, January 20 against the Peoria Rivermen was postponed, but the Cottonmouths put together a team to play on Saturday, January 21 against the Peoria Rivermen which ended in a 4-5 loss in OT. The Cottonmouths confirm that they will host 2 games at home this weekend against the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs.

"We will play both games at home this weekend, as usual. We had 10 players skate on Saturday morning to evaluate if they were prepared to play in Peoria, and 6 of them were cleared to play. The players were given today off to recuperate and they will all be evaluated tomorrow (Tuesday). We will have a team ready to play on Friday and Saturday night," stated Head Coach and General Manager, Jerome Bechard.

As scheduled, the Cottonmouths will host a Pirate Night sponsored by CVCC on Friday, January 27 against the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs at 7:30PM at the Columbus Civic Center. Individual tickets start at $14 in the Upper Level and can be purchased at the Columbus Civic Center Box Office or on ticketmaster.com. For groups of 10 or more, tickets are only $10 each and must be purchased in advance through the Columbus Cottonmouths office.

On Saturday, January 28 the Cottonmouths will host a Military Appreciation night sponsored by Liberty Utilities against the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs at the Columbus Civic Center at 7:30PM. The Cottonmouths and Liberty Utilities are busing in over 1,000 troops from Fort Benning. You can purchase a Waffle House Family 4 Pack which includes 4 Cottonmouths tickets to the January 28 game, 4 Cottonmouths hats, and 4 Waffle House All-Star Special meal vouchers for $34.50 through the Cottonmouths office Monday through Friday 9AM-5PM. This offer expires on Friday, January 27 at 5:00PM. Active and retired military can present their Military ID and purchase tickets to this game for $10 each at the Columbus Civic Center Box Office.

The Cottonmouths welcome everyone to "Pack the Pit" this weekend for both home games to show support to the team! The Cottonmouths would like to thank everyone who has showed their support and offered to help in any way. There will be 'Snakes Strong" t-shirts available for sale at the Snake Shop during the game and they will later be available online. You can also show your support by using the Snapchat Geofilters available during both games this weekend at the Columbus Civic Center.
