D'Aoust, Welsh and Hischier Named the Three Stars of the Week

BOUCHERVILLE- Alexis D'Aoust, Matthew Welsh and Nico Hischier were named today the three stars of the week for January 16th to 22nd, 2017.

Alexis D'Aoust of the Shawinigan Cataractes is the first star of the week. The 20 year-old forward scored 3 goals, added 4 assists and finished the week with a +6 rating in only 2 games. In Drummondville on Wednesday, he accumulated 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) and was named the second star of the game as the Cataractes beat the Voltigeurs 8-1. This was D'Aoust's 4th five-point-game in the QMJHL and 2nd this season. He now tallies 43 points on the season, 33 of which were scored at even strength.

The second star is awarded to the Charlottetown Islanders' goaltender, Matthew Welsh. He won both games he started on the road this week while recording his first shutout of the season on Saturday in Sherbrooke. After stopping all 26 shots against the Phoenix on Saturday, he was back in nets on Sunday stopping 27 of the 29 shots he faced in a 5-2 victory against the Drummondville Voltigeurs. He finished the week with a goals against average of 1.00 and a save percentage of 0.964.

The Halifax Mooseheads' rookie forward, Nico Hischier is the third star of the week. In 3 games the 17 year-old scored a total of 7 points with 3 goals and finished the week with a +/- of +2. Tuesday against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles he helped his team overcome a 2-goal deficit twice as the Mooseheads won the game 5-4 in overtime. He finished the game with 3 points (1 goal and 2 assists). He scored a goal against Chicoutimi on Thursday and scored again on Friday against the Drakkar. He has recorded a goal in 8 of his last 9 games. Hischier has 33 goals and 67 points so far this season, which puts him 4 points behind the League leaders.
