Texas Stars News Release

CEDAR PARK, Texas - For the second straight game it was Denis Gurianov scoring the game-winner as the Texas Stars topped the Manitoba Moose in a 4-3 final at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park on Wednesday night in front of 4,313 in attendance.

After scoring the overtime-winner on Monday in San Antonio, Gurianov tallied a breakaway goal with 7:03 to play in the third for his sixth of the season and a 4-2 Texas lead. Manitoba added one more goal with the extra attacker on the ice, but the Stars (19-15-1-2) held on for their sixth win in their last seven matchups against the Moose (15-18-3-2).

The Stars visit the Iowa Wild for a pair of games this weekend beginning Friday at 7 p.m. CST.

Tied at two entering the third, Jason Dickinson gave Texas their first lead of the game off Ethan Werek's centering pass from the corner at 2:41. After Gurianov made it a 4-2 score, Kyle Connor added a late goal for the Moose with three minutes to play, but Texas shut the door from there.

Landon Bow stopped 24 of 27 shots in net in his third straight start for Texas to earn the win. Eric Comrie made 26 saves in the losing effort for the Moose.

Both teams traded goals through the first two periods, and the first four goals of the game came on special teams plays as Quinton Howden opened the scoring on a shorthanded breakaway at 9:27 of the first for Manitoba. Just over a minute later, Gemel Smith slipped home a rebound chance in front on the power play from Remi Elie's shot in the right circle for his seventh of the season and a 1-1 score.

The Moose regained the lead with a power play goal of their own at 12:02 of the second on Brendan Lemieux's deflection. With just over four minutes to play in the middle frame, Julius Honka one-timed a loose puck in the slot past Comrie to knot the score again for the Stars.

Ludwig Bystrom tallied an assist on Honka's goal for his 50th professional point. Texas head coach Derek Laxdal picked up the 99th coaching win in his AHL career.

Both team's finished 1-for-2 on the power play.
