Macon Mayhem News Release

LAST TIME OUT: The Mayhem defeated the Pensacola Ice Flyers in overtime last night 2-1. Nick Grasso scored the GWG, and goaltender Troy Passingham earned his first SPHL win, saving 36 of the 37 shots he faced.

ALL-TIME SERIES: The Mayhem are just 3-4-2 against the RiverKings all-time, but they are 1-0-0 against them this season.

SCOUTING THE RIVERKINGS: Mississippi has now won two games in a row, beating Pensacola and the Huntsville Havoc. They have given up the second fewest goals in the league this season (2.38) and have dominated in the shot category. The RiverKings have the second-most shots for (33.19 per game) and the third-fewest shots against (28.75 per game).

BATTLE OF THE BRICK WALLS: This game should feature two very good goaltenders in net, as both teams have two outstanding net-minders. Expected in net for the Mayhem is Jordan Ruby, who currently leads the SPHL in GAA (1.81) and SV% (.941). Mayhem backup Troy Passingham got his first start last night, saving 36 of the 37 shots he faced. For Mississippi, Brad Barone leads the team in GAA (2.24) and SV% (.921), and Peter Di Salvo is no slouch either, as he is 5-1-0 on the season with a 2.45 GAA and a .913 SV%.

NEWCOMER READY TO CAUSE MAYHEM : The Mayhem signed forward Joel Wetmore to a three-game tryout on Saturday. Wetmore played seven games for the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL this season, and prior to his time in Elmira, played four seasons for Utica College at the NCAA Division III level. He served as one of the team's assistant captains his final two seasons.

A LOOK TO THE FUTURE: Next weekend, the Mayhem will play two games against the Columbus Cottonmouths. On Friday night, they will travel to Columbus, and on Saturday they will return home.
