Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - Jordan Topping had a goal and an assist, including a winner at the 2:04 mark to help the Tri-City Americans sneak by the Everett Silvertips, 4-3 in overtime, before 3,464 fans at XFINITY Arena on Wednesday in WHL action.

The Silvertips ended a season long seven-game homestand, 5-1-1 while only trailing for 33:23. They built a 2-0 lead on the strength of goals from Noah Juulsen and Jake Christiansen, while Morgan Geekie helped Tri-City rally with a pair of goals in the second and third period.

Juulsen, set up by Dominic Zwerger at the blueline, blasted a one timer past Evan Sarthou for a 1-0 lead at 9:29 of the opening period and Jake Christiansen followed with a bid from the top of the left circle that ricocheted off traffic at 14:34 for a 2-0 lead.

The Silvertips, who misfired on three power plays to open the period, lost their two-goal lead on Geekie's back-to-back strikes. His first of the game, at 17:51 of the second period, drew the Americans to a 2-1 deficit and his game tying goal, a one-timer between the circles, leveled the game at 8:53 of the third period.

Kyle Olson, sneaking backdoor, earned a tap-in goal with 5:24 left in regulation to put the Silvertips in their first deficit of the game at 4-3. But Morgan Geekie took a high sticking penalty 200 feet away from his own net with 2:23 to play, and the Silvertips power play capitalized.

Bajkov, corralling Zwerger's feed at the right circle, unleashed a snapper past Sarthou at the short side post with 1:31 to play in regulation for a 3-3 tie and to send XFINITY Arena into bedlam.

Tri-City largely controlled the puck for the overtime period and after a remarkable save by Carter Hart with the glove on Geekie's hat trick bid, Topping walked in from the left circle and fired a snap shot for the winner, ending the Silvertips five game win streak.

Sarthou made 26 saves for the win while Hart, playing in his final home game before heading to Hockey Canada's selection camp, stopped 16 shots.

The Silvertips return to the road in Langley, B.C. on Friday, visiting the Vancouver Giants at 7:30 PT (Fox Sports 1380 / WHL Live).??
