Rochester Knighthawks News Release

(December 7, 2016)... The Rochester Knighthawks will wrap up their preseason schedule on Saturday, Dec. 10 with their annual holiday showdown against the Georgia Swarm. The Knighthawks will host the Swarm at 8:00 p.m. at Connors & Ferris Field at The Blue Cross Arena.

The game is a fundraiser for the Pirate Toy Fund, which supplies toys year-round to over 70 agencies that provide aid and comfort to thousands of children in the Greater Rochester region. Fans that bring in a new, unwrapped toy will receive a pair of tickets to the game.

The contest will be broadcast on 107.3 The Bull, with the pregame show starting at 7:45 p.m. Fans can also listen on their mobile devices and computers by downloading the iHeartRadio app at iHeartRadio.com.

Rochester enters the preseason finale with a 1-1 record after earning a dramatic 9-8 victory over the New England Black Wolves Sunday afternoon at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena. Quinn Powless scored the game-winner, on the power play, with 16.3 to go to cap off a three-point (1+2) effort. The winner was one of seven special team goals, as Rochester scored four power-play tallies and added three more during delayed penalties.

Joe Resetarits led the way with three goals and one assist to finish the two-game weekend tied for the team lead with seven points (5+2). Rookie Kyle Jackson also notched seven points (3+4) in two games. In his NLL preseason debut Saturday, he recorded one goal and three assists against the Bandits. He followed that up with a two-goal, one-assist outing versus New England on Sunday.

"It was a surreal experience," said Jackson. "You watch those guys on TV playing lacrosse all the time. To be out there with them is something I will cherish for the rest of my life."

Fellow rookie Josh Currier also had an impressive start to his NLL career, scoring one goal and dishing out two assists in Saturday's preseason opener against Buffalo. The Peterborough, Ontario native, who was selected with the sixth overall pick in the 2016 NLL Entry Draft, described his first NLL game experience.

"It was a lot of fun," he said. "It was pretty exciting to get out there and get in some real game play."

Dan Dawson, who played in the preseason opener, was in midseason form Saturday afternoon as he posted a six-point effort (1+5) against the Bandits. Newly acquired Kevin Ross also chipped in a pair of assists on Saturday and Sunday to give him four points.

"Our effort was really good this weekend and in both games. The game against Buffalo and then sneaking one out against New England," said Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen.

After this Saturday's game, the next time the Knighthawks are in action is Thursday, Dec. 29 when they host the Toronto Rock at 7:30 p.m. on Opening Night. Individual and group tickets are currently on sale. For more information, please call the Knighthawks office at (585) 454-4295.
