Vancouver Giants News Release

Kamloops, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants dropped a 5-2 decision to the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday night at the Sandman Centre. James Malm and Thomas Foster scored Vancouver's goals.

BOXSCORE

Ondrej Vala opened the scoring just after the midway mark of the first period, beating Giants net minder Ryan Kubic on a screened shot from the point. Malm equalized for the Giants less than three minutes later, pouncing on an errant pass deep in the Kamloops zone before wheeling in front of the net and firing a hard wrist shot past Kamloops goalie Connor Ingram on the glove side.

Rudolfs Balcers restored the Kamloops lead with a power play goal early in the second period, but Foster responded quickly for the G-Men, beating Ingram on a hard drive to the net after Owen Hardy threw the puck to the front of the net. Deven Sideroff made it 3-2 for the home team with a deflected power play goal later in the frame, and Spencer Bast scored shortly thereafter to give Kamloops a 4-2 lead after 40 minutes.

The G-Men struggled to muster any offence in the third period, and Quinn Benjafield scored an empty net goal with 1:31 remaining.

Kamloops out shot Vancouver 33-17. The Giants went 0-for-4 on the power play. Kubic made 28 saves in the loss.

The Giants return home for the first game of Ugly Christmas Sweater weekend as they will host the Everett Silvertips on Friday, December 9th, at 7:30pm. For tickets, click here or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
