Storm Game Preview: Tri-City "Scouts" for Win in Matinee against Waterloo

Kearney, Neb. - The Tri-City Storm (7-9-2-2, 18 pts., T-6th Western) meets the Waterloo Black Hawks for Boy Scout Day, a matinee start Saturday at 3:05 p.m. More than 1,300 local boy scouts will be in attendance, with Cabela's providing an archery range and other fun games on the concourse. The Storm will wear one-game-only specialty jerseys.
Last night, Waterloo won the season-series opener, 4-1. Hawks Leading scorer Nick Swaney had two goals. Jace Foskey picked up his first USHL point, assisting on Danny DiGrande's fourth goal.

Boy Scout Day Boy Scout Day is often one of the most highly-attended games of the Storm's season and attendance has increased over the past three years.
Last season, Tri-City drew 3,652 fans to the early start and the Storm fell in overtime to Bloomington, 2-1. In 2014-15, the Storm brought 3,425 fans. The year before, 3,349 fans came through the gates.
As of Friday, more than 1,300 local boy scouts had signed up to come to the game.
The Storm's next home game, Ugly Sweater Night + $1 Beers, is also expected to draw a large crowd; 3,179 fans came by with ugly sweaters last season.
Foskey on the board Sixteen-year-old defenseman Jace Foskey earned his first USHL point, taking the primary assist on Danny DiGrande's goal. Foskey has played in 14 games this season.
The Southlake, Texas native comes to the Storm from the Dallas Jr. Stars U16 program, coached by Eric Silverman. The Jr. Stars have produced multiple NHL players, including Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman and former NHL first-round pick Seth Jones.
Returning and Exceeding Danny DiGrande scored his fourth goal of the season Friday, one more than the second-year forward had in 37 games last season for Muskegon.
In 16 games this season, DiGrande has four goals and seven points.
The 19-year-old had a hat trick on February 9, 2016 against Bloomington, the only USHL game he scored in prior to this season. DiGrande played in 30 of the final 34 games for Muskegon last season after being called up from the NAHL.
In addition to DiGrande, several Storm players have already matched or exceeded their point and/or goal totals from last season. Monte Graham has one more point this season (9) than last. Paul Washe (16 points), Wyatt Bongiovanni (13) and Brian Hawkinson (4) have tied their total from last season.
Last Time Out The Waterloo Black Hawks scored three goals in the second period and ran by the Tri-City Storm, 4-1, Friday at the Viaero Center.
Danny DiGrande scored the Storm's only goal. Eric Dop made five saves in the third period after relieving Dayton Rasmussen. Dop has played in four games this season and Friday was the 18-year-old's first home appearance.
Nick Swaney scored twice, while Emil Ohrwall finished with two points. Robbie Beydoun had 28 saves in victory.
