Sharks Ink Veteran Defensive Back for 2017

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that defensive back LaRoche Jackson has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster for the 2017 season.

LaRoche Jackson (5'11",195) will begin his fifth season with the Sharks, and seventh season in arena football. During the 2016 season, Jackson was third on the team with 64 tackles and 10 pass breakups. He started 12 games during the regular season while battling multiple injuries. As a key player in the Sharks defense, Jackson recorded a third of the Sharks' overall interceptions with six in 2016, second overall for the Sharks (Greg Reid, 7).

During the Sharks' 2015 ArenaBowl run, Jackson led the team with 21 postseason tackles. He snagged two interceptions during the American Conference Championship win over the Philadelphia Soul, making a critical interception to clinch the Sharks' 61-56 win.

In 2014, Jackson led the Cleveland Gladiators with 105.5 total tackles, seven pass breakups, three interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and two forced fumbles. During Jackson's first season with the Gladiators in 2013, he finished with a team high of 85 total tackles and five interceptions. During his two seasons in Cleveland, Jackson contributed 190 total tackles and 8 interceptions.

"Action" Jackson kicked off his first stint with the Sharks by leading the league in 2011 as rookie with 119 tackles and led the team in 2012 with 84. In both seasons, he was second on the team for interceptions, pass breakups and fumble recoveries.

In 2009, Jackson played for the the Indoor Football League. During his time in the IFL, he made 41.5 tackles, eight interceptions and two kickoff returns for TDs, earning the league's Most Valuable Player Award with the Bloomington Extreme. Jackson made his indoor football debut in the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA), as a member of the Carolina Speed in 2008.

Jackson is attended Clark Atlanta University and is a native of Irwinton, Georgia.
