December 2, 2016 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

Allentown, Pa.- First-year manager Dusty Wathan will be joined by a staff of returning IronPigs coaches, as announced by the Phillies today. Pitching coach Dave Lundquist, hitting coach Sal Rende and athletic trainer Jon May will all be back with Lehigh Valley for the 2017 season. Wathan was named the fourth all-time manager in franchise history back on Sept. 19, 2016.

In his first season with the IronPigs, Dave Lundquist guided a pitching staff that shattered franchise records for wins (85; previously 80 in 2011), ERA (3.12; previously 3.68 in 2011) and shutouts (18; previously 12 in 2011-13). The 43-year-old successfully mentored the progress of several young prospects, including 2016 International League Pitcher of the Year Jake Thompson and MLBPipeline.com's Minor League Pitcher of the Year Ben Lively. The Beverly, Mass., enters his 10th season in the Philadelphia organization and his 13th overall as a pitching coach.

Now entering his seventh season with the IronPigs, hitting coach Sal Rende oversaw an offense last year that set a franchise single-season record with 122 home runs (previously 117 in 2011). In addition, Lehigh Valley finished second in the IL in average with runners in scoring position (.284) -- which was .25 points higher than the league average of .259 and also set a franchise record (previously .277 in 2012). Rende, 61, embarks on his 14th season in the Phillies organization and 11th as an affiliate hitting coach.

Jon May, 36, will also return for his third season as IronPigs athletic trainer and 11th as a member of the Phillies organization.
