Match Preview: The Carolina RailHawks (11W-7D-13L; 40 pts; 6th place) play against Puerto Rico FC (4W-9D-8L; 21 pts; 12th place) Saturday night at Juan Ramî"n Loubriel Stadium at 7:30 p.m. ET. This will be the second meeting between the two clubs and the last game of 2016 for the RailHawks. On August 13, the first time the two teams had ever matched up, Omar Bravo and Matt Fondy scored in the 2-2 draw.
Last Time Out: The RailHawks are coming off a 1-0 win over Minnesota United FC at WakeMed Soccer Park in front of a regular season attendance record of 8,086 fans. Matt Fondy provided the lone goal of the game in the 51st minute in Saturday's win, netting his team-leading seventh goal. Carolina goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre posted his sixth shutout of the season. Sylvestre, 23, has been nominated for NASL Young Player of the Year.
Playoff Implications: Despite Saturday's win over Minnesota, the RailHawks have been eliminated from playoff contention due to a Rayo OKC victory over Fort Lauderdale.
Players to Watch: #16 Matt Fondy In only 19 games played with Carolina, Fondy has taken ahold of the offense, providing a team-leading seven goals. Out of his 50 total shots, he has been dangerous, with 19 on target. The 27-year-old has been versatile on the attack, with two left foot goals and three right footed.
#20 Héctor Ramos On near equal footing with Fondy, Héctor Ramos has scored seven goals in 18 games with Puerto Rico FC. Ramos leads the club in offensive production, both in goals, and is tied for most assists, with four. Ramos last picked up a point on Oct. 2 with an assist in Puerto Rico's 2-1 win over Ottawa.
