Adirondack Thunder News Release

WHO: Adirondack Thunder (2-0-1-1) @ Elmira Jackals (2-2-0-0) WHAT: ECHL REGULAR SEASON GAME #66

WHEN: Friday, October 28, 2016 @ 7:00 PM

WHERE: Glens Falls Civic Center - Glens Falls, NY

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: Tonight is the second of 11 meetings between Empire State rivals Adirondack and Elmira. The two teams met for the first time this season on Tuesday as both teams earned a point but Elmira came out with a 2-1 shootout victory. The Jackals and Thunder will also meet again tomorrow evening back at the Glens Falls Civic Center, completing a set of three straight meetings between the two squads.

ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL: Defenseman Alex Wall has collected assists in each Thunder game this season, the only player on the team with a point in each of the team's first four games. Wall's four assists leads all players on the Adirondack roster and his +2 rating is tied for third amongst all Thunder skaters. The 5-11 blueliner was named the Thermal Associates Thunder Player of the Week for his efforts.

MAVE LOVE NOT WARD: Forward Brian Ward once again found the back of the net on Tuesday, his third tally in four games to open the season. Ward's tally extended his team lead in goals to three, the only Thunder player with multiple goals on the season. Ward is currently in first full professional season after he made his professional debut in 2016 in one game with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers.

LET IT APPLE-BY: Adirondack got reinforcements between the pipes as netminder Ken Appleby was assigned to the team on Tuesday from the AHL's Albany Devils. Appleby made his 2016-17 Thunder debut on Tuesday as he turned aside 15 of 16 shots in the shootout loss. A season ago, Appleby went 17-9-1 in Adirondack, with a 2.24 GAA and a .924 save percentage, in addition to seven playoff victories.

MIKK THE STICK: Thunder center Mikkel Aagaard collected the primary assist on Ward's goal on Tuesday, which kept him tied for the Thunder team lead with four points on the season. Aagaard (1-3-4), along with Wall (0-4-4), Peter MacArthur (1-3-4) and Ty Loney (2-2-4) have each collected four points through Adirondack's first four games. Aagaard is currently in his first professional season with the Thunder.

YOU ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR FIRST: The Thunder saw a forward Brandon Baddock make his professional debut on Tuesday, while defenseman Keegan Kanzig made his ECHL debut in the same game.

BAIL YOU OUT: The Thunder have added forward Matt Bailey to the roster, effective for tonight's game in Elmira. Bailey was assigned on Thursday from the AHL's Stockton Heat, where he had yet to appear in a game this season. The 6-1 forward is a veteran of over 100 career AHL contests, where he collected 32 points (14-18-32) in the Anaheim Ducks' system with the Norfolk Admirals and San Diego Gulls.

BIG FELLAS ON THE BLUELINE: With the addition of six-foot-six defenseman Keegan Kanzig, the Thunder now have three defenseman that stand at 6-6 or taller, also including Mathieu Brodeur (6-6) and Stepan Falkovsky (6-7). Including forwards and goaltenders, eight players on the Thunder roster stand at 6-4 or taller with an additional three at 6-3.
