Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Missouri Mavericks announced today that rookie goalie Ville Husso (WILL-ee, HOO-soh) has been reassigned to the Mavericks by the St. Louis Blues from the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves.

Husso, 21, has appeared in two games with the Wolves this season and has a 1-1-0 record with a 2.53 goals-against average and .914 save percentage. He earned his first professional win on October 23, 2016 with 29 saves against the San Antonio Rampage.

Standing 6-foot-2, listed at 205 pounds and hailing from Helsinki, Finland, Husso was a fourth-round draft pick (#94 overall) by the Blues in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. That followed his first season with HIFK Helsinki of Finland's top league when he posted a 1.99 goals-against average and a .923 save percentage. He also was a member of Finland's World Junior Championship team that captured the gold medal.

Husso signed an Entry Level Contract with the Blues in May 2016 after finishing his final SM-liiga season with HIFK. He led the league in wins (25), goals-against average (1.91) and save percentage (.927) and was named Liiga's top goalie for the 2015-16 season. He also led HIFK to Game 7 of the Liiga championship series with a 1.55 goals-against average and .935 save percentage.

Husso is expected to join the Mavericks on their current three-game road trip but is not expected to be in the lineup for tonight's game at Quad City.
