Toronto FC News Release
Last Week: Toronto FC ended the 2016 MLS regular season with a 3-2 victory over the Chicago Fire on Sunday afternoon at BMO Field. Michael de Leeuw of the Fire opened the scoring in the 18th minute giving Chicago a 1-0 advantage. Late in the first half, Sebastian Giovinco drew a penalty kick that he converted to level the match going into halftime. Early in the second half, Giovinco controlled a Michael Bradley free kick and set up Justin Morrow whose diving header gave the Reds a 2-1 lead. TFC made it 3-1 moments later when Armando Cooper found Jonathan Osorio who used clever dribbling to beat the Fire backline before blasting the ball into the top corner of the net. Chicago scored a late goal to cut the deficit to one but the Reds held on for their 14th victory of the season. Toronto ended the regular season with a club-record of 53 points.
