Chicago Steel News Release

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - The United States Hockey League ("USHL") announced Monday that Chicago Steel right wing Johnny Walker has been named CCM/USHL Forward of the Week for the period ending Oct. 23, 2016 (Week 5). Walker's current six-game goal scoring streak is the longest in the USHL this season. The Phoenix native tallied four points (3G+1A) in Chicago's three Week 5 victories, helping the Steel continue their best start in team history: 9-0-0-0 (18 pts.).

Steel players have now achieved weekly awards from the USHL in four of the first five weeks of the 2016-2017 season, with Ales Stezka twice winning Goaltender of the Week (Weeks 1 & 4) and Adam Karashik earning Defenseman of the Week honors in Week 2.

Walker is at a point-per-game pace this season, leading the Steel in goals (7) while also registering two assists. Chicago selected Walker in the first round (11th overall) of the 2016 USHL Phase II Draft. The 20-year-old is committed to Arizona State University.

Sioux City's Matt Hellickson (Forward) and Dubuque's Jaxon Castor (Goaltender) also took home Week 5 honors.

Up next for the Steel is a home game against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders on Friday, Oct. 28. Faceoff is set for 7:05 p.m. It's Momtober Night, featuring a celebration of mothers and a pre- game Hockey 101 session for women.
