Canada Soccer has selected 23 players for a six-day Men's U-17 evaluation camp in Toronto, Ontario. The 2016 camp runs 24-29 October with eight on-field sessions planned over the course of the week. Among those selected to the camp roster is FC Edmonton Academy forward David Doe.

"I think it's great for David to receive this opportunity," FC Edmonton Academy Technical Director Jeff Paulus stated. "He is is amongst a good group of 2000-born attacking players that include Alphonso Davies in Vancouver and Jose Hernandez who is now in Vancouver out of our Academy program. Sky is the limit for David. He has raw talent at the moment and is progressing every day."

Canada's 23 players are all born 2000 or later, making them eligible for next year's CONCACAF and FIFA U-17 competitions. Many of the players in this group have been part of Canada Soccer's men's national youth program since 2014.

"This is a very good opportunity with four days of intense work to see some of our players," said Paul Stalteri, Canada Soccer's Men's National U-17 Team Coach. "We also have a chance to look at some new players that we have watched but we have not worked with them before."

Six of the 23 players are taking part in their first-ever Canadian youth camp while three others are taking part in their first camp this year. Since February, 48 different players have been featured in five camps for this age group.

"Most of our core players are also taking part in this camp, so we will have a chance to work on a number of things as we continue to build momentum towards next year," said Stalteri.

Next year's CONCACAF Men's Under-17 Championship runs 21 April to 7 May in Panama. From 12 nations, the top four will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 (dates yet to be announced).

Canada Soccer's Men's EXCEL Program channels our nation's exceptional players into the best soccer environments. The Canada Soccer Pathway works in collaboration with our provincial and territorial partners as well as the professional clubs and academies. For Canada's elite players, the program emphasizes player development on the pathway to representing Canada's Men's National Team in international soccer.
