Detroit Assigns Pair to Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Saturday assigned forward Dominic Turgeon and goaltender Jake Paterson to the Grand Rapids Griffins. In addition, the Red Wings released forwards Mike Borkowski, Mathew Santos, Matthew Ford, Alex Globke and Daniel Cleary, defenseman Matthew Caito and goaltender Cal Heeter from their professional tryouts, returning them to Grand Rapids.
The Griffins will begin their training camp on Monday at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. Grand Rapids will conclude camp with its lone preseason contest on Friday, Oct. 7, when the Griffins take on the Chicago Wolves at 8 p.m. EDT at the West Meadows Ice Arena in Rolling Meadows, Ill. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door.
The Griffins will open the 2016-17 campaign at home against Chicago on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Chicago and battling the Wolves on Oct. 15.
