September 30, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

The IceDogs looked to improve on their good start to the season as the Kingston Frontenac's came to town for our 2016-2017 Home Opener, but fell by a score of 4-0. The boys were able to secure a win on the road against the North Bay Battalion last Friday in their season opener, and they were looking to continue their strong play in front of an excited home crowd.

The first period started out well for the IceDogs which led to multiple powerplay chances for both teams. Kingston was able to capitalize off loose puck in a scramble in front of Dhillon near the half-way mark of the period. Dhillon made several big saves to keep the game close while his teammates struggled to generate chances in Kingston's zone.

The second period was penalty-filled for both teams but, Kingston was able to capitalize on theirpowerplay chances. Recent returnee from Tampa Bay's camp Chris Paquette had one of the best chances half way through the period fighting off a Kingston defenseman, but he was unable to hit the back of the net. In the dying seconds of the second, rookie forward Joshua Dame was sprung on the breakaway, but he couldn't beat the Kingston goalie.

The third period was another spirited, penalty filled affair. The boys had some decent chances in the Kingston zone, but were unable to capitalize. The third period was a hard fought period by both teams, and both goalies needed come up with some big saves to maintain the score.
