SPOKANE, Washington- The Empire has signed offensive lineman Siosifa Tufunga to their 2017 IFL roster.

Tufunga (OL, 6-3, 325, Washington) joins the Empire for his rookie season as a member of the IFL. During his collegiate career with the Huskies, Siosifa was a fixture on the offensive line. He led a young offensive line group and was the only senior offensive lineman to start every game in 2015. Tufunga's efforts helped freshman quarterback Jake Browning pass for 2,955 yards and freshman All-American running back Myles Gaskin to become the first UW true freshman to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season and more than 100 yards in back-to-back games. Beyond his solid play on the field, Tufunga earned Academic All-Pac-12 honors as a junior (second team) and sophomore (honorable mention).

"Siosifa Tufunga is a strong, mobile center that stood his ground against the best defensive lineman in the Pac-12 Conference," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "His film showed great technique and a player that finishes. We look for that in our lineman and expect him to make an impact for us in 2017."

Siosifa played his prep career at Jordan High School in Long Beach, California where he was a second-team All-CIF Southern selection and helped his team advance to the CIF Southern Pacific Pac-5 Playoffs as a senior.
