August 30, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wichita Thunder News Release

Wichita, KS- The Wichita Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators and powered by Toyota, announced today that the team has come to terms with forward Ryan Tesink (TEE-sink) for the 2016-17 season.

"Ryan is a gritty, hard working player that can add a multi-dimensional approach to our team," said Head Coach Malcolm Cameron. "He is strong on the forecheck and is solid defensively. I look forward to a great season from Ryan."

Tesink, 23, joins the Thunder after splitting last season between the Alaska Aces and Quad City Mallards. The 6-foot, 185-pound forward was a sixth round draft pick (#162 overall) of the St. Louis Blues in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He was assigned to the Mallards by the AHL's Chicago Wolves at the beginning of the season, appearing in 37 games and recording 16 points (6g, 10a). Tesink was reassigned to Alaska in February by the Wolves and recorded 12 points (3g, 9a) in 28 games to close out the 2015-16 campaign.

"I'm very excited to have a fresh start with the Wichita Thunder organization," commented Tesink. "I've heard nothing but great things about Malcolm Cameron and am looking forward to coming in and helping the team win hockey games."

The third-year pro from Saint John, New Brunswick spent four years with the QMJHL's Saint John Sea Dogs and Blainville-Boisbriand Armada before turning pro. He helped the Sea Dogs to back-to-back QMJHL President's Cup titles in 2011 and 2012, recording 152 points (51g, 101a) in 183 career games. Tesink served as an alternate captain for both Saint John (2012-13) and Blainville-Boisbriand (2013-14).

Tesink becomes the 14th player added to the preseason roster, joining Louick Marcotte, Mitch Holmberg, Ian Lowe, Alexis Loiseau, Gerrad Grant, Landon Oslanski, Dalton Reum, Vincent Arseneau, Drew Owsley, James Melindy, Matt DeBlouw, Blake Tatchell and Greg Amlong.

The Thunder kicks off their 25th Anniversary season on Saturday, October 15th against the Tulsa Oilers. Season tickets are on sale now. Place a $25 deposit for up to four seats and pay it off in 14 payments. Contact a Thunder representative at the office today.
