Tobias, Pujols Named to South Atlantic League Post-Season All-Star Team

LAKEWOOD, NJ - BlueClaws OF Jose Pujols and 2B Josh Tobias have been named to the South Atlantic League Post-Season All-Star Team, it was announced on Tuesday but league president Eric Krupa.

Both players also played in the league's All-Star Game on June 21st in Lexington, Kentucky.

Statistics through games of August 29th:

Pujols, a 20 year old from Santo Domingo, is the league's home run leader with 24 and is third in the league with 79 runs batted in. He broke the BlueClaws single-season home run record when he hit his 23rd home run on August 19th at Delmarva. His 12 home runs at FirstEnergy Park are also the most ever in a season by the BlueClaws. He signed with the Phillies in 2012 and is the 27th ranked prospect in the system per MLB Pipeline.

Tobias, a 23 year old from Greensboro, hit .304 with seven home runs and 55 runs batted in with the BlueClaws this year before he was promoted to Hi-A Clearwater on July 27th. Tobias hit .347 in April and was the Phillies Minor League Player of the Month. He was a 10th round pick of the Phillies last year from the University of Florida.

Pujols and Tobias are the 15th and 16th BlueClaws to be named to the South Atlantic League Post-Season All-Star Team. Last year, OF Herlis Rodriguez was named to the team after DH Willians Astudillo was named in 2015.

This is the fifth year the BlueClaws have had multiple members of the Post-Season All-Star Team.
