LEADING OFF: West Virginia won a walk-off 5-4 over Lakewood Saturday night. The 'Claws scored all their runs in the fourth and fifth, capped by a solo home run by Jan Hernandez which gave the club a 4-0 advantage. West Virginia remained scoreless through the first seven innings before beginning their comeback in the eighth. Casey Hughston got the Power on the board with a two-run home run to slice the deficit in half. Later in the frame, Carlos Munoz singed in Mitchell Tolman to bring the team within a run. The Power tied the game with a run in the bottom of the ninth when John Bormann hit a sacrifice fly to plate Stephen Alemais, who tripled to start the frame. That sent the game to the tenth, where Daniel Arribas knocked the game-winning RBI single to center.

FIRST THINGS FIRST: With the game two win, West Virginia closed to within six games of first place Lakewood with eight games to play. The Power are currently tied for third in the South Atlantic League Northern Division with Hickory. West Virginia is 4-9 against Lakewood this season but hold a 96-80 all-time advantage.

EXTRA EXTRA: With Saturday's walk-off win, the Power improved to 10-3 in extra inning matchups this season. The win is the club's ninth walk-off victory of the season and their third such win in the month of August, following walk-off wins on August 8 and August 10 against Greensboro.

RIGHT AT THE DEATH: The win on Saturday was the club's second victory this season when trailing entering the ninth inning. The Power are now 2-48 in such matchups, with the other victory coming on August 10 when Ryan Nagle knocked a three-run game winning walk-off home run with the club down a pair in the ninth.

DON'T LET THE COUNTDOWN BEGIN: The Power's elimination number for the second half division championship sits at three coming into play Sunday. The figure represents the number of combined wins and losses by West Virginia and Lakewood which would eliminate the Power from second half contention.

NO MORE NORTH: Sunday marks West Virginia's final game of the season against a Northern Division opponnent. The Power's play their final two series of the season against the Columbia Fireflies and Greenville Drive, each of which are in the Southern Division.

DANNY DELIVERS: With his walk-off single in the tenth, Daniel Arribas extended his season long hitting streak to ten games, the longest current such streak on the Power roster. The first baseman is 11-36 (.306) with six RBI over that span.

POWER POINTS: Mitch Keller is now tied for third in franchise history for strikeouts in a season with 131 and third best ERA in a season at 2.46... Tyler Glasnow holds the strikeout record after he fanned 2013 and Will Inman holds the ERA title with a 1.71 mark in 2006... West Virginia tied a season-high by taking 13 walks in the series finale against Lexington... After another five shutout frames, Mitch Keller has now thrown 23 consecutive scoreless innings dating back to the first inning of his start on August 6 at Delmarva... Casey Hughston hit his team-leading seventh triple of the season in the first inning of Monday's 5-1 win over Kannapolis...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh overcame Milwaukee 9-6. Gregory Polanco broke a 6-6 tie with a pinch-hit bases clearing three RBI double in the sixth... Indianapolis shutout Toledo 2-0. Tyler Glasnow threw three shutout innings in a rehab start... Altoona won a walk-off 5-4 over Eerie in extras. Stetson Allie knocked the game-winning RBI single in the 14th inning... Bradenton's scheduled game with Charlotte was postponed... The Black Bears toppled Mahoning Valley 6-4.

PROMO UPDATE: On Saturday, August 27, the first 1,000 fans at Appalachian Power Park will receive a Tyler Glasnow and Josh Bell bobblehead, presented by IHOP. The game also features an appearance by the Pirate Parrot and a Mystery Ball sale to help raise money for Pirates Charities.
