New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Reading, PA - Christian Lopes grounded a two-out, two-run single through the middle to break a 3-3 tie in the top of the ninth as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (64-69) outlasted the Reading Fightin' Phils (83-49), 5-3.

Lopes finished the game 2-for-5 and drove in four runs, including a two-run triple in the top of the fifth inning. The Fisher Cats had fallen behind 1-0 on a third-inning homer by Gabriel Lino, but answered back with three in the fifth thanks to Lopes' triple and an RBI groundout from top prospect Richard Urena.

Conner Greene, who hit 100 mph on the radar gun twice, held Reading to one run on five hits with three walks and six strikeouts over five innings, and left the game with a 3-1 lead. The Phils broke through against the bullpen in the seventh, when a two-run blast from Rhys Hoskins tied the game at 3-3. Hoskins tied his teammate Dylan Cozens with his league-leading 37th homer.

The score stayed even until the top of the ninth, when a pair of walks and wild pitches from MIguel Nunez (L, 4-3) put two runners in scoring position for Lopes' heroics.

RHP Jeremy Gabryszwski (7-11, 5.27 ERA) will take the mound in Sunday's series finale against RHP Mark Leither (6-3, 2.55 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The Fisher Cats final homestand of the season opens on Monday, August 29 against Trenton at 6:35 p.m. with Firefighter Appreciation Night. For tickets and information, visit www.nhfishercats.com. The homestand also includes four games with the Sea Dogs and five Atlas Fireworks Shows. The season concludes on Labor Day against Portland with a 1:35 p.m. start time.
