ABOUT LAST GAME: Columbia lost the middle game of the series to Charleston, 4-1, on Wednesday night. The game was tied in the seventh before the RiverDogs plated three to go up for good. Reliever Luis De Los Santos - making his Fireflies debut - hurled a scoreless eighth inning at Joe Riley Park.
DASHING STRETCH: First baseman Dash Winningham launched his fourth home run in six days on Wednesday night. He also clubbed one on Tuesday, making it the second time this season Winningham has homered in back-to-back games. He's now just one behind his 2015 home run total (12) with the Kingsport Mets.
DOUBLE DOWN: Patrick Mazeika laced two hits on Wednesday, his 15th multi-hit game of the season. He's among the team leaders in terms of multi-hit games: J.C. Rodriguez - 24 Dash Winningham - 20 Patrick Mazeika - 15
FRIENDS OR FOES: Vicente Lupo and the Fireflies have 11 games left in the 2016 season. When the season concludes, Lupo will head home to Venezuela and rest before the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League gets started. Lupo plays for the Cardenales de Lara in Barquisimeto, the same club that Charleston RiverDogs skipper Luis Dorante manages.
STRIKEOUT KING: In two starts against Charleston, Joe Shaw has fanned 18 batters in just 13 innings (two wins).
