Sea Dogs Acquire CHL Rights to D Stewart

SAINT JOHN - Head Coach Danny Flynn announced today the Saint John Sea Dogs have acquired the CHL rights to defenceman Chase Stewart.
The 19-year-old from Thunder Bay, Ontario, played 45 games for the Ontario Hockey League's (OHL) Saginaw Spirit during the 2015-16 season, totaling one goal and five points along with 44 penalty minutes. Listed at 6'2" and 225 lbs, he had one goal, ten points and 95 penalty minutes in 93 career games over the last two seasons in Saginaw.
Stewart was originally selected by the Spirit in the tenth round (188th overall) of the 2013 OHL Priority Selection.
"Chase is a steady, physical defenceman with two years of OHL experience," said Flynn. "He also attended camp with the Arizona Coyotes last year. As a team, we're always looking to improve. We think he can help us."
He is scheduled to join the Sea Dogs for training camp in the coming days.
