SPOKANE, Washington - The Empire has signed defensive back John Hardy-Tuliau to their 2017 IFL roster.

Hardy-Tuliau (DB, 6-0, 205, Hawaii) joins the Empire for his first season as a member of the IFL. John most recently spent time with the AFL's LA Kiss and the CFL's B.C. Lions during their 2014-15 season.

During his collegiate career at Hawaii, Hardy-Tuliau started in 44-of-51 games and registered 239 tackles (176 solos), 16.5 tackles for loss, six interceptions, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and 29 passes defended. He also recorded seven blocked kicks, three of which were returned for touchdowns. As a senior, he was named honorable mention All-Mountain West Conference and earned Third-Team All-MWC honors via College Sports Madness. Over the course of his four years as a Warrior, he played primarily at the safety position but also saw time as a defensive back. John played his prep career at Visa Murrieta High School in Murrieta, California.

"John is a hard-nosed, aggressive cover corner with great reach and instincts," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "I believe his style of play will excel in our defensive scheme. We're looking forward to seeing him in training camp."
